inside the lab (i love this new little camera)
Hello hello ๐ธ

I got this new little camera recently and I've been enjoying taking video snippets when I can! It's really fun. Here's a short video I put together of what's been going on this week at the studio.
In the video you'll see Gaby, the newest addition to the uno+ichi team! She's super super talented, and expert wheel thrower. One of her favorite drinks (hard to choose one) is a Hokkaido milk tea with caramel pudding.

About Gabriela Ambrosio Cruz:
When did you first learn ceramics?
I first learned ceramics my senior year of high school back in 2015. At the time I only learned how to hand-build since my class was only limited to three pottery wheels. My first try at the wheel was around 2019 when I took ceramics as an elective for my undergrad. It wasn't until 2021 when I truly immersed myself in ceramics and took several classes at a local community college.
What's your favorite part about the ceramic process?
My favorite part of the ceramics process is trying new clay bodies. It's always such a humbling experience when you throw something a million times only for it to become very difficult to throw when switching the type of clay you use. It also becomes a fun challenge to learn how to manipulate a new type of clay.
Whatโs your current or next-up ceramic-related goal?
My current ceramic goal is to meet new people in the pottery space. I'm always so mesmerized to learn how different potters interpret ceramics. There's always something new to learn from each other and it's fun to interact with people from different backgrounds.

We are about halfway through the preorders, and a couple weeks out from a shop update! Also, Gaby threw some beautiful plates that I'm working on designing. I'm really excited about those because it's been years since we've had any plate offerings. In the video you'll see me playing with some designs.
Until next week!
