some work in progress from my artist residency at the Modern Ancient Brown Foundation

Hello! Welcome to Hana’s studio shares where I share things from the studio 🙃 !

In this studio share:

(1) I've been working on some smaller paintings that i've been doing faster, typically in one-go. Often I paint them using the left over paint I have on the brush from working on a larger painting. They’ve been really fun because they’re low stakes so I can just have fun with it. I really enjoy doing portrait style paintings and this small size lends well to it.

I just dropped off a batch to Ochi Gallery, so if you’re interested in purchasing one you take a look at the private preview page here. I think small sized portraits look really nice in a home.

(2) I have some work in a show at the Benton Museum of Art in Pomona that just opened yesterday! I did some simple drawings for this that I really like, I'm really excited to share them with you. If you’re able to make it to the opening you’ll be in for a delightful show. Here are the details:

(3) Also, I'm participating in the Modern Ancient Brown Foundation's Residency program for the next three months! It’s located in Detroit, MI. It’s my first time in Detroit and it’s my first time painting in a residency. When I showed up I learned they also have a small kiln, so I bought some clay and have already started making some small sculptures.

(4) Lastly, I’m having a solo show in Tribeca (NYC) in the fall at Hesse Flatow! I’ll share more about this in the coming weeks, but you can save the date/info:
